2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Hutchins is a tall and lean first baseman who showed a polished bat and nice hitting approach. He has a proportionate 6 foot 3 frame and has plenty of room to gain an additional 20 pounds to his 185 pound build. He features a very good bat that showed power potential. With increases in his bat-speed and stength he could develop plus power. Presently he has the makings of a good hitter with quick hands and a nice swing using good balanced lower half mechanics. His swing was down on the ball hitting behind it creating a nice line drive plane with back spin. He projects very nicely with that good body and hitting ability. Will is an excellent student.
