2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Del Guercio is a very athletic 6-2, 190 lb outfielder from the Tampa area who was the top position player prospect at the Unsigned Showcase. Along with a present strong body and good physical maturity, Del Guercio has some pro level tools as well. He threw 90 mph from the outfield and ran 7.01 on the very slow track in rainy Fort Myers, which is probably about a 6.8 on a dry surface. It looks to us as if Del Guercio has a chance to hit, too, although he pressed in batting practice some and didn’t show his game bat speed. He hits out of an open stance with a relatively low hand position and takes an aggressive swing with good bat speed. He had 3 hits in one of the showcase games, including a ringing triple off the LCF fence, and is looking to pull the ball hard. We don’t know his background as of this writing as to why he isn’t signed but he definitely belongs in a Division I program somewhere based on the physical talent that we saw.
