Jake Holtzapple is a 2016 3B/1B with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Matthews, NC who attends Providence HS. Strong well proportioned athletic build. Right handed hitter, hunched over set up with tight hands, has a very short swing path, hands hitter with strong hands, squared up the ball very well in games and drove it hard to the pull side, showed gap power. 7.16 in the sixty but down to 4.33 to first base, runs hard. Showed very good game range at third base especially go his left, quick short arm action similar to his swing mechanics, very accurate throws to both second and first base. Didn't shine in workouts but stood out in games both offensively and defensively. Good student. Verbal commitment to North Carolina.
