Matthew Beaird is a 2014 C/ with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Johnson City, TN who attends Science Hill. Large, athletic frame with lean build and room to fill out. Gets down the line well out of the batters box. Behind the plate he shows a quick transfer with a strong arm down to second base. Quick release with solid pop times which he can improve on with a shortened release. Uses his athleticism in the infield, with ability to charge in on the ball and maintain control of body while making throws. Strong, quick arm with carry across diamond. Left handed batter with a closed, wide base and high hand and back elbow set up with balance throughout swing. Easy, quick swing with lift, resulting in hard line drive contact. Good bat speed and consistently barrels up the ball. Named to Top Prospect List. Very good student.
