Sam Lanier is a 2015 RHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Maitland, FL who attends Orangewood Christian HS. Broad shouldered athletic build, some present strength with more to come. Sound delivery mechanics, swings the gate with his lead leg but gets back on line, over the top arm slot, will pull his head off on release, full arm circle. Mid to upper 80's fastball, topped out at 89 mph, mostly straight but with very good angle when he's down in the strike zone. Curveball has big 12/6 downer shape and hard biting action when he's on top. Key will be learning to get over his front side consistently and work down in the zone, tends to miss up at present. Good student, verbal commitment to East Carolina.
