Michael Shaver is a 2018 OF/LHP with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Gainesville, FL who attends F. W. Buchholz HS. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Ran a 6.90 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with fundamental, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with developing fluidity while working through transition. Long arm circle back at separation and released from a three-quarters slot producing good carry to the bag, topped at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and sweeping leg lift trigger. Hands behind at a slightly lower slot before load to shoulder height. Flashed a level, line drive path and plane through extension when hands launched in sync to baseball. Flashed some bat speed and strength when on time and working to the pull side gap. Also pitched showing a side step delivery with a quick tempo through finish. Stayed tall on back side well and works to the plate with tall and fall lower half actions. Deeper arm circle back at separation and released from a low three-quarters to near side arm slot. Fastball had occasional running action to arm side and had to feel to work each edge of the plate as well, topped at 81 miles per hour. Consistently filled the strike zone while changing eye level with the fastball and induced weak, ground ball contact. Projects for a higher ceiling as a pitching prospect at this time. Excellent student as well.
