Gabriel Vera is a 2018 C/1B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Rio Grande, PR who attends Puerto Rico BB Academy. Medium athletic build with good strength in his lower half. Flexible receiver who gets low behind the plate and has active feet, stays low receiving, gains ground well throwing the ball, good arm strength and makes strong accurate throws, 1.97 best pop time, has been well coached defensively and has the athleticism to execute. Right handed hitter, open stance, pre-loads his front foot, upper body arm swing with some backwards lean, has some strength and can lift the ball in the gaps on his pitch, will need to work on shortening his swing as the pitching improves.
