Norberto Cervantes is a 2017 C with a 5-9 195 lb. frame from Laredo, TX who attends Laredo United HS. Compact frame, stocky build with present strength. Right handed hitter, quiet approach with good balance, clean and smooth load and weight shift. Strength plays in swing, shows up consistently, creates solid line-drive contact. Solid feel for the barrel, able to repeat pull-oriented approach and drive the baseball. Looks the part behind the plate, receives out in front well and shows ability to move laterally, block the baseball. Limited lower-half in throwing mechanics, could drive to bases better on throws, but shows quick, compact arm-action and solid, accurate throws. Popped as low as 2.02 seconds in defensive drills. Named to the National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student, verbally committed to Prairie View A&M.
