Jose Gutierrez is a 2018 C/1B, 3B with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Arlington, TX who attends Lamar HS. Has a large frame, large build, and good size to body with present strength. Posted a 7.48 second sixty yard dash. From behind the plate, receives the baseball well and has clean transfers, gains ground with footwork toward target base, good arm strength on very accurate throws. At the plate, left-handed hitter that starts with a strong base and high back elbow. Has intent in load and shifts weight well into contact, hands have great speed and get the barrel going out front while staying on a good path to the baseball. Ball is hit out front and jumps loudly and well off the barrel. Drove the baseball nicely. Excellent student. Named to 2016 South Underclass Top Prospect List.
