Blaine Smith is a 2017 SS/2B with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Bessemer, AL who attends Oak Grove HS. Athletic, lean build with some projection, should add strength as he continues to mature. Shows good, developing athleticism, glides in the infield and moves well to the ball. Could break down more efficiently, has good range, good instincts, and shows a strong, accurate arm. Switch hitter, uses toe-tap load from left side with spread stance setup, has good feel for the barrel and shows good bat speed with the ability to get extended. Similar mechanics from right hand side, timing not quite as consistent with upper half, but still shows ability to spray line drives. Projects well both offensively and defensively. Named Top Prospect League. Excellent student.
