2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Marco Young is a 2016 OF with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Del Norte HS. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders, a high waist and long limbs, room to fill out with additional strength. Posted a 6.96 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, short steps to the ball, works through the ball well and over front side, fields the ball out front, big crow hop with longer release, short arm action and gets on top of throws well with a high three-quarter release. Left-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and slight pull back with hands at beginning of swing. Short swing path to the ball with line drive swing plane, hits the ball out front with extension. Comes off the barrel well and projects for more with continued physical growth, occasionally gets rotational swing with swing but shows comfort hitting consistently to the middle of field. Very good student.
