William Root is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Chelsea, AL who attends Chelsea High School. Large frame with a lean, projectable build that should continue to fill out with additional strength. Posted a 7.22 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary outfielder, moved well to the ball and gathered with a top velocity of 78 mph. At the plate, showed good bat speed with a line drive swing plane through the zone and natural lift. Weight flows well into his swing with power that should develop well. Also pitched, threw from a high three quarter arm slot and a compact arm action. Present arm speed with a fastball that worked 78-82/83 mph and filled the zone. Also mixed in an 11-5 curveball with depth at 65 mph and a 70 mph changeup with sink. Exceptional student.
