Grayson Rodriguez is a 2018 1B/RHP with a 6-5 230 lb. frame from Nacogdoches, TX who attends Central Heights HS. Extra big and strong build, can get stronger still. Primary first baseman but future is clearly on the mound. Long arm action in back with a 3/4's arm slot coming through, creates some angle and gets good extension. Low 90's fastball, topped at 92 mph and maintained it, fastball is heavy down in the zone with good sinking action. Threw both a slider and curveball, slider is sharp at times and mostly located glove side, curveball is big and well commanded for early count strikes. Flashed nice feel for a change up. Threw strikes and has pitchability. Left handed hitter, spread open stance, exaggerated inside swing path, contact approach, not getting to his power with his current swing mechanics. 7.29 runner, showed his big arm strength well at first base. Good student, verbal commitment to Texas A&M.
