Jack Merrifield is a 2018 3B/RHP/SS with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Prairieville, LA who attends Dutchtown. Solid athletic build, has some present strength with the potential for more. 7.47 runner, fields the ball out front at third base with good hands, has a good first step charging the ball and a quick release on the slow roller, arm action gets long on routine and deep plays but has some carry to his throws. Right handed hitter, hits with tight hands creating a short swing, is occasionally late firing his hands but shows bat speed when on time, has some lift in his swing. Also pitched, high 3/4's arm slot with some hook in back, worked down in the zone consistently with his fastball with good life, topped out at 84 mph. Flashed curveball spin but not consistent due to arm action. Good all around athlete with some strength and tools. Very good student.
