August Samek is a 2017 SS/OF with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Teaneck, NJ who is Home Schooled. Medium build with good present strength in his frame that projects well going forward. Primary infielder, showed clean actions to the ball with some effort at the point of release. Moves well with smoothness through ball and a strong arm across the infield. Top velocity was 80 mph to first base. At the plate, started with a wide base and worked with an up the middle approach. Showed quick hands through the zone with good present bat speed and lower-half involvement. Present feel for the barrel and drive ability when squared up. Good student. Verbally committed to Virginia Tech.
