John-Paul LaBarge is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Dennis, MA who attends Nauset Regional High School. Large, athletic build and frame, long limbs, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.61 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, stayed tall through backside, long arm action and arm circle, looseness to arm, deceptive delivery, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Worked well downhill down the mound and filled the lower third of the strike zone, pitching to contact. Fastball worked consistently at 78-79 mph, working both sides of the plate and hitting spots consistently. Projects for more velocity moving forward. Showed a 12/6 shaped curveball with depth, but would show additional sharpness with more finish through the ball. Repeated well and worked quickly. Secondary outfielder, showed a similar loose arm action, carry on the ball with arm strength up to 80 mph, and overall very fluid actions. At the plate, started with a wide base and an open stance. Limited lower half in swing with a compact hand path and inconsistent swing plane. Worked with a hit to all fields approach. Would improve at the plate with additional rhythm and lower half in swing.
