Jake Boone is a 2017 SS/2B with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Torrey Pines HS. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Creates some shift into contact from lower half with a compact, line drive swing plane. Showed good leverage through extension with present bat speed. Has solid barrel control throughout the zone while squaring up contact often resulting in hard line drive contact. Turns barrel into contact on pitches middle in producing loud contact to the pull side gap. Worked out defensively from the infield showing clean glove actions wihle funneling the baseball out front. Quick, clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot the produces accurate throws across the infield with carry. Polished fundamentals with athletic actions throughout defensive workouts. Very good student as well.
