Joseph Martin is a 2018 3B/RHP/1B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Davenport, FL who attends Celebration HS. Medium build, athletic frame with broad shoulders and some present strength especially in the lower half. Ran a 7.42 second 60 yard dash. Primary third baseman, reads hops well fielding the ball out front, some looseness to actions but could be more relaxed, clean exchange from glove to hand with average arm strength across the infield from a 3/4 arm angle. Also took reps at first base, similar actions with more natural first base movements, similar arm strength and angle presented. Also pitched, rocker step to a high leg lift with some extra movements in front leg at balance point, short arm action to a 3/4 arm slot, could use lower half more for better drive downhill, good tempo to delivery, good locator of the fastball that showed riding cut, mixed in an 11-to-5 curveball with some depth. Righthanded hitter, upright and open stance, big leg lift trigger, longer swing with an uphill barrel plane, should work on hitting the ball more out in front, tended to let ball travel too deep into hitting zone, flashes bat speed creating some leverage, very easy swing and the ball showed jump when barreled, should get better with reps. Good student.
