James Parker is a 2018 RHP/SS with a 5-11 152 lb. frame from Alabaster, AL who attends Thompson HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a young, projectable build with plenty of room to fill throughout. Strong runner, posted a 6.80 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins with a big side step moving into delivery with a high leg lift and hip turn at top. Full arm action coming through the back and works to a side arm release point, arm comes through well without effort and able to generate sinking life to fastball due to slot. Short, on line stride, fastball topped out at 82 mph, consistently mixes and keeps hitters off balance. Slider shows short sweeping life with 10-4 shape while curveball offers more depth and 11-5 shape, able to induce ground ball contact with changeup at 69 mph. Similar low arm slot across the diamond in infield, shows accuracy across along with range moving up the middle, short steps and footwork. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and shows a very simple set of mechanics in the box. Line drive swing plane, repeats well with a short and direct path to the ball. Upper half dominant swing, shows a feel for the barrel and works contact approach well. Very good student.
