Clayton Ellis is a 2017 3B/RHP/OF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from San Jacinto, CA who attends Tahquitz HS. Ellis has a lean build with broad shoulders. Hits from a square stance. Athletic swing with good hand path inside the baseball. Consistently got barrel to ball with a direct path to the ball. Good barrel control with a gap to gap approach. Showed power potential with solid line drive results. Defensively, primary 3B and has ability to stay there. Arm works well with good carry across diamond. Did field a bit high but glove worked well. Also itched. Short rocker step to start with a leg lift just above the belt. Gathers well at his balance point and stays on the backside. 3/4 slot with extended release point, has some arm quickness and fastball showed good life at 81. Stayed more online with better plane when working from stretch. Showed a curveball with 9/5 shape. Curveball had good action and sharp break, kept arm speed up when throwing it. Worked both sides of the plate. Excellent Student.
