Nic McCay is a 2018 RHP/ with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Carlisle, IA who attends Carlisle. Medium build with some present strength and room to add. Primary righthanded pitcher. Utilizes a simple side step delivery with a smaller leg lift. Stays tall on the backside with drop and drive lower half actions. Stays in line to the plate well. Has a clean arm circle releasing from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Generates down hill plane with the fastball that sat in the upper 80's and topped at 89 miles per hour while getting some solid arm side run. Throws a 12-to-6 curveball with very tight spin and good depth as a secondary in the low 70's. Also flashed a changeup that stayed in the mid 70's. Has feel for pitching backwards and keeping hitters guessing. Shows the ability to work both edges of the plate with relative ease. Repeats delivery well. Increased effort on pitches as the game went on. South Dakota State University commit. Very good student as well.
