Giovani Ghelfi is a 2017 OF/LHP, 1B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from West Covina, CA who attends South Hills. Ghelfi has a medium sized frame with a lean build. Defensively he has solid actions to and through the baseball in the outfield with arm strength up to 77 MPH. He has clean transfers and a solid release. At the plate, Ghelfi starts with a slightly open stance with a wide base. He has a late shift to start his swing and keeps his hands tight to his body. He made consistent middle of the field contact and squared the ball up well. Ghelfi will hit with more pop as he gets more extension in his swing. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. He threw a 1/7 curveball with some shape to it. Good student.
