John Herring is a 2017 OF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Valley Stream, NY who attends Archbishop Molloy. Large, athletic frame with a long and lean frame, projects well with additional strength. Strong runner, posted a 6.84 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, full arm action coming through on throws, easy arm and comes out well, throws around the bag, shows strength on throws and projects for more with incorporation of lower half. Left-handed hitter, starts with a closed stance and shows a pull side approach in the box. Upper body swing, uses hands in swing and gets extension out front. Line drive contact to all fields, stays behind the ball well with nice bat speed and overall contact skills. Shows ability to go with outside pitch. Good student.
