Christopher Gendi is a 2019 RHP/MIF, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Aberdeen, NJ who attends Matawan Reg. Primary pitcher with a medium frame, slender build and room to fill out, 7.14 runner in the 60. Works with a quicker and slightly rigid delivery, quick transition from his leg lift to foot strike creating a short stride and slight crossfire step to the plate. Has a short arm circle in the back with a slight hook before delivering from a higher 3/4 arm slot and reaching full extension on the follow through. Fastball shows slight sinking action, sitting in the middle 70's, topping at 78 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape and the depth of the pitch improved throughout the outing, missing barrels with later down action. Shows aggressive actions in the outfield, attacking the ball and playing through with solid transitions to throw, maintaining momentum through release, shows potential with a quick arm stroke and on line carry to throws. Hits from a wider, even based stance with a slight crouch and higher hand set. Shows slight weight shift into contact with a line drive, middle-of-the-field approach at the plate. Consistently gets on plane with pitches and shows good feel for timing with a short and compact stroke that finds the barrel regularly. Shows some strength levels in his hands and solid bat speed. Good student.
