Tyler Steward is a 2017 RHP/ with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Des Moines, IA who attends Norwalk. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. Stays balanced at gather while creating front side coil. Utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate and creating downward plane. Created a compact arm circle back at separation and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed good life through the zone with occasional run in the low 80's, topped at 83 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape with soft spin and good depth when located down in the zone. Also flashed a slider that had tighter spin with occasional sweeping action to glove side. Consistently mixed each pitch effectively keeping hitter off balance. Repeats mechanics and releases point well allowing for good command of the zone to each edge of the plate. Mature, composed presence while on the mound with a good knowledge of pitching. Frame and arm action projects for additional velocity with continued physical development. Good student.
