McPherson is a 6-3, 185 lb right handed pitcher from Virginia with long arms and legs and loose actions. He throws from a submarine to side arm release point with a very extended arm action and release point. McPherson's fastball was 75-79 mph and was pretty straight for his pitching style and release point. It looks like he could throw harder because of his looseness and arm speed. McPherson's breaking ball was a sweeping curveball that had pretty good spin and break for a side armer and was an effective pitch for him. He also threw a couple of change ups. McPherson pitches to the outside of the plate on right hand hitters and needs to stay out of the middle of the plate until he can develop more movement on his fastball. Overall, he has an unusual pitching style that is often effective at the lower levels and he has the physical potential to improve his stuff further. McPherson is also a good student.
