Luke Orbon is a 2021 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from New Hyde Park, NY who attends New Hyde Park Memorial. Medium build, athletic and young frame with plenty of room to project on moving forward. Ran a 6.91 second 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, took reps in the infield with a wide base at gather fielding the ball out in front, athleticism to actions with quickness and strength to arm, longer release with accurate throws, topped out at 79 mph across the diamond. Also pitched, filled up the zone nicely with a two pitch combination, fastball showed cut to glove side, curveball has solid depth but lacks much bite at present, effort at release with an incomplete lower half that should improve with added strength. Righthanded hitter, sets up with a slightly open stance and high hand set, compact swing that gets restrictive at times, showed handle for the barrel hitting mostly off of his front side, looks to lift but best when spraying line drives, consistent round of solid contact. Quick athlete with good infield actions and contact oriented approach. Outstanding student. Named to 2018 14U Northeast Showcase Top Prospect List.
