Ian Martinez is a 2020 LHP with a 5-5 148 lb. frame from Trujillo Alto, PR who attends International Baseball Academy. Shorter compact build. Easy polished delivery on the mound, builds his pace evenly, loose arm in back with a deep arm circle, low 3/4's arm slot, works downhill to the bottom of the zone well. Steady mid-70's fastball, has some arm side running life, works both halves of the plate and uses the pitch with intent. Change up was his best secondary pitch this outing, has good hand speed and feel for the pitch, gets swing and miss on his change up. Tends to raise his slot on his curveball and tip off the pitch. Has a very good pick off move that is a weapon for him. Left handed hitter, moves into his swing aggressively, short rotational upper body swing, works the middle of the field, good baserunner. Excellent student.
