Matt Tyson is a 2019 C/1B with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Zolfo Springs, FL who attends Hardee Senior. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Primary catcher with even stance while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground while working out of crouch with sound footwork. Quick glove through transfer and released from a three-quarters slot. Ball comes out of hand cleanly producing accurate carry to the bag at 75 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.02. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and medium leg lift trigger. Stays on back side throughout and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, fluid path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Looks to the throw barrel head to contact with intent and drive the baseball with authority. Flashed solid strength at contact with the ability to produced good carry to the pull side gap when squared. Excellent student. Named to the 2018 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
