Oscar Vergez is a 2016 2B/C with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Miami, NC who attends American Heritage HS. Medium, athletic frame with good strength throughout body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.64 seconds. Hits from narrow base with good balance in set up, leg lift timing mechanism, keeps hands close to body throughout swing and tries to work inside-out. Solid hand path and overall hand quickness, showed good intent to hit the ball where it's pitched and willingness to use the whole field. Line drive swing plane with some strength, stung the ball pretty consistently in game action throughout the event. Worked out defensively in the infield, staying low to the ground and moving well to the ball. Shows soft hands and overall clean hand actions at the ball, fields from underneath and gathers into crow hop. Consistently accurate throws across the diamond, with IF velocity clocked up to 71 MPH. Very good student.
