Andrew Grieder is a 2018 RHP/ with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Newbury Park, CA who attends Newbury Park. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.51 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. Generates good hip tilt at gather and utilizes lower half while driving in line to the plate. Produces good arm speed through extension form a compact three-quarters arm slot that generates solid downward angle to the plate. Shows good command and feel for his fastball to each edge of the plate with good life through the zone at time, ranged between 78-81 miles per hour while topping at 82 miles per hour. Curveball has 11-to-5 shape with tighter rotation and good depth when staying on top of offering. Maintains arm speed well with a changeup offering in the upper 60's that flashed late fading action to arm side. Consistently pounded the strike zone and effectively changed speeds to keep hitter off balance. Also worked out defensively form the outfield showing smooth paced, athletic footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Clean glove action through transition and generated good momentum to the bag. Compact arm circle and arm slot that generated low, on line throws to the bag topping at 81 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a narrow, slightly crouch straight stance. Creates some bat waggle pre load and employs a leg lift trigger. Flashed bat speed and strength through the zone on a line drive plane that generates occasional leverage through extension. Consistently barreled contact throughout batting practice with a mid-field approach. Baseball jumps of the barrel well and will continue to increase power potential with continued physical maturity. Good student as well.
