Maxwell Carlson is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Savage, MN who attends Burnsville. Lean and projectable athletic build, young look physically. Big rocker step to start his delivery, full hands over head action with a full arm stroke in back, keeps everything in line well and repeats his mechanics well, some energy at release. Steady low 90's fastball with some arm side running action. Tight spin on a hard curveball and likes to back door left handed hitters with the pitch. Will drop his release slot a bit on his change up but has nice fading action to the pitch and can throw it to different spots in the zone. Got in a very nice groove of mixing his pitches and throwing strikes and had a quick two innings. Brother of Sam Carlson, 2017 second round pick of the Mariners. Good student, verbally committed to North Carolina.
