Houston Collier is a 2020 RHP/3B, SS, MIF, UT with a 5-11 140 lb. frame from Tupelo, MS who attends Tupelo Christian Prep. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands at a slightly closed position on front side. Clean, loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some running action to arm side with occasional downward plane in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/5 shape with some spin and good depth to glove side. Looked to challenge hitters to the bottom quadrants of the zone while displayed developing feel for the edges. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing sound footwork while surrounding the baseball. Flashed solid range to each side with efficient glove actions while funneling. Released from a lower three-quarters arm slot generating on line carry to the bag at 74 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple front side trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Looked to throw barrel head to contact and flashed to feel to work to all fields.
