Hunter Davis is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 5-9 200 lb. frame from Temple, GA who attends Temple HS. Medium, broad shouldered build with present strength throughout body, strength to lower half. Primary lefthanded pitcher, works with a compact delivery and does a nice job of getting tall on the backside and gather over rubber, high leg lift up past belt, strides open with front foot upon strike. Hands stay close to body throughout, works to a high three-quarters arm slot, gets on top and shows short running life when located down in the zone, topped out at 74 mph, maintains well from the stretch with similar mechanics. Throws strikes and mixes well to elicit weak contact, curveball shows short depth and 1-7 shape at 64 mph, gets it down in zone. Fields the ball out front with two hands at first base, sound fielding actions and stays low throughout, accurate throws across. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an upright and open stance, uses a leg lift trigger, occasionally gets front foot down late. Loads hands back behind shoulders at start of swing, loose and extended path, works middle of the field and shows balance to swing. Good student.
