James Zippay is a 2022 RHP/1B/3B with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Saint Louis, MO who attends Desmet. Long and lanky build, big for his age, lots of room and time to grow and fill out. Side step delivery with some drop and drive to the plate, full arm stroke with an extended release, keeps things simple and repeatable from the stretch, will occasionally pull off to the glove side. Fastball topped out at 75 mph, showed the ability to pitch to both sides of the plate, gets some short late life on his fastball at times. Short breaking curveball at 63 mph, works curveball down in the zone well. Maintained his stuff well and was quick and efficient in his last inning. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a toe tap trigger, bars out to start his swing, stays on plane well and hits to all fields, has some feel for the barrel. 7.62 runner. Very good student.
