Josh Cordova is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-2 225 lb. frame from Antioch, CA who attends Antioch. Large frame with broad shoulders and strong build. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stayed tall and balanced on back side and worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to target well. Clean arm circle and separation and showed good arm speed through finish from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well generating heavy downhill angle through the zone with running life to arm side, topped at 86 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and solid depth in the low 70's. Also showed a slider offering that had tight 9/4 shape with good tilt to glove side. Mixed in a changeup as well that flashed occasional wiggle to arm side in the upper 70's. Consistently changed speed and showed good command for each pitch to both sides of the plate. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple front side trigger. Stays on back side throughout swing with rotational actions to contact. Simple, direct path to contact with a level plane through extension. Present bat speed through the zone with good strength at contact. Ball jumped off the barrel when squared producing hard, loud contact to each gap. Outstanding student. Named to the 2017 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
