Joseph Lawson is a 2026 C/RHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Fort Myers, FL who attends Bishop Verot. Big and strong athletic build. Right handed hitter, hits from a narrow start with a simple move into contact, upright at contact, upper body/hands driven swing with more there in his lower half, stays on top of the ball well. strong hands create bat speed and impact, flashed some carry, best contact was middle of the field with solid jump off the barrel, more power in there as he develops. 7.40 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, has very sound fundamentals and repeats his actions well, easy transfer and release with some on line carry on his throws, gets on top well, game actions in drills. Took a turn on the mound, big rocker step/leg raise delivery with an over the top arm slot, works quickly and is aggressive on the mound. Fastball sat in the upper 80's with more there, throws a heavy fastball with sink and gets ground ball contact. Big breaking 12/6 curveball with nice spin, still developing feel for a consistent release. Also threw a firm change up. Strong young athlete who has been coached up and will continue to improve, has some two-way potential as well. Excellent student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
