Dax Ford is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Luling, LA who attends John Curtis Christian. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and plenty of physical strength proportioned nicely throughout frame. Primary lefthanded pitcher, simple turn moving into delivery, gets tall on backside with leg lift up parallel to belt; subtle load on backside before driving down the mound. Short and compact arm action through the back, hides it well and shows quickness while working to a high three-quarters release point. Shorter stride down the mound, can continue to lengthen but repeats and attacks the zone while working quickly. Fastball topped out at 86 mph, creates angle and plane on the pitch, mostly true in life with occasional run. Nice feel for curveball and able to land for strikes at 72 mph with 1-7 shape. Maintains slot on changeup but slows arm slightly at release; knuckleball at 75 mph flashed tumble. Similar arm action in the outfield, upper body dominant release with developing footwork, accuracy on throws. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow; incorporates physical strength well and shows nice two-way potential. Strong and fast hands with loose and fluid swing, does a nice job of getting separated and extended at point of contact. Creates leverage and able to impact the baseball when squared with carry to all fields. Good student. Named to Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Louisiana-Lafayette.
