Josiah Santiago is a 2020 MIF/OF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Mukilteo, WA who attends Archbishop Murphy. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Ran a 6.94 sixty-yard dash. Primary middle infielder with smooth, clean footwork while working through the baseball. Showed good range to each side with fluid glove actions while funneling and working through exchange. Consistently made plays with ease and created accurate, on line carry to the bag at 79 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing aggressive lower half actions while closing to the baseball. Worked through exchange quickly and released from a high energy, full arm stroke. Showed developing accuracy to the bag while topping at 78 miles per hour. Switch hitter, from the right side showed an even stance with a simple leg lift trigger. Direct, compact path to contact with a downhill barrel plane through extension. Consistently looked to attack the baseball out front while throwing the barrel. From the left side, featured an open stance with a simple leg lift trigger. Showed better bat speed from the left side with the ability to drive the baseball to the gaps when squared. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Very good student as well.
