Kevin Davis is a 2017 1B/RHP with a 6-8 210 lb. frame from Orland Park, IL who attends Lockport Township East HS. Very tall frame with long limbs and a solid build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary first baseman with smooth paced footwork while centering the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and works through transition with smooth exchanges. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot that generated occasional on line carry to the bag, topped at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with linear lower half actions producing good shift to the baseball. Loose, extended path to contact with a slightly lifted plan through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but showed the barrel control and bat speed to work to all field as well. Good raw power potential with continued physical development. Also pitched showing a large leg lift delivery. Creates coil over back side at balance and generated some front side swing while working to the plate. Deep arm circle back at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed occasional running action to arm side with good life through the zone, topped at 84 miles per hour. Curveball had good spin with solid depth, tends to miss low in the zone with offering. Showed some feel for his fastball offering in the zone with developing command to each edge of the plate. Tools will continue to develop on each side of the ball with continued maturity and mechanical refinement. Very good student as well.
