Danny Tharp is a 2018 RHP/2B, OF with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Waterloo, IL who attends Waterloo. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for support additional size and strength with continued physical development. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced, balanced leg lift delivery. Gathers well at balance and utilized lower half while driving in line to the plate through finish. Released from a long, loose three-quarters arm slot that created occasional life with downhill plane through the zone at 77 miles per hour. Curveball showed 11/5 to near 12/6 shape with tight rotation and solid depth down in the zone. Also flashed a straight changeup in the upper 60's. Commands the baseball well each edge of the plate and consistently kept hitter off balance while mixing in curveball. Good composed presence while on the mound and shows a solid knowledge for pitching. Right handed hitter with a spread, open stance and simple toe tap trigger. Simple, direct path to contact with a level, line drive plane through extension. Stays behind baseball at contact with rotational lower half actions. Primarily works to the middle of the field but flashed the ability to work to all fields when on time. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice created line drive contact. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition.
