Eric Walters is a 2008 RHP/1B with a 6'8", 170 lb frame from Daphne, AL who attends Bayside Academy. Eric has a very tall skinny body that projects to fill out quite a bit. On the mound Eric throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short loose arm action. When he had his mechanics going Eric showed nice sinking action on his fastball and could be a very effective ground ball pitcher. He will show nice feel for a change-up with life, but needs to work on developing a breaking ball. Once he gets stronger Eric should be able to smooth out his mechanics some as he rushs some to the plate. At the plate Eric has a short simple swing with a line-drive swing plane, but really lacks the strength to drive the ball. At first base Eric has clean actions and makes a solid target for infielders. Eric is a very projectable player that could attract the attention of many mid-level college programs.
