Drew Woody is a 2020 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Highland. Primary left-handed pitcher with a long and slender build. Starts from the windup with a small side step and belt high leg lift, staying slightly flexed at gather going to drop and drive actions down the mound. Delivery is smooth and athletic, creating good linear direction down the mound and finishing with good extension over the front side. Long and loose arm action with good arm action and a mid three-quarters arm slot. Good downhill plane to a heavy fastball up to 86 miles per hour. Fastball has late life and gets on hitters quick when up in the zone. Shows advanced feel for a 12-to-6 curveball with late and sharp break. Curveball is a swing and miss pitch at 76 miles per hour. Secondary outfielder with a strong arm up to 87 miles per hour. Good approach to the ball with a quick gather and crow hop. Gets good backspin on throws generating carry to bases. Balanced and open stance at the plate with a rotational lower half. Clean hand path to contact and a line drive barrel plane. Flashes some bat speed at times. Good student. Named to 2019 Sunshine West Showcase, Top Prospect List.
