Nelson Klein is a 2021 LHP/1B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Pearland, TX who attends Lutheran South Academy. Projectable athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Pitches exclusively from the stretch with a high leg lift start, drives off the rubber well and gets good lower half use, full arm action with a high 3/4's arm slot, repeats his delivery very well. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, plenty more velocity there as he gets stronger, works low in the strike zone very consistently with his fastball and especially good at spotting it arm side against right handed hitters. Sweeping curveball has nice depth to it. Has advanced feel for throwing strikes and using both pitches in sequence for his age, very efficient outing. Left handed hitter, big barrel wrap to start his swing, good lower half use, has quick hands and creates some barrel whip and bat speed, pull approach and has some juice in the barrel on his pitch. Left hander to watch as he gets stronger and more physically mature. Good student.
