Troy Wansing is a 2021 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Kansas City, MO who attends Staley. Tall frame with long limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a smooth paced side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with front side and carries momentum to target. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball came out of hand clean producing some downhill plane with run to arm side int he low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 1/7 shape with tight spin and late depth to the bottom of the zone. Displayed good feel for the arm side edge of the plate and consistently looked to attack the zone with both offerings. Also worked out defensively from first base and the outfield. From first base showed easy glove actions while playing beneath the baseball. Smooth exchanges and flashed some range to each side. From the outfield, displayed smooth paced footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels cleanly and worked through exchange with deliberate glove to hand exchanges. Created accuracy carry to the bag while topping at 78 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and sweeping leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Employed a mid field approach and looked to lift the ball between each outfield gap. Flashed some carry when delivering barrel on time, out front. Excellent student.
