Jacob Redelfs is a 2021 RHP/3B/SS with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Frisco, TX who attends Memorial HS. Jacob is solidly built, finely tuned athlete, who shows twitchy actions and a firm understanding of the game. His approach and attention to detail is admirable. In addition to being a certain prospect on the diamond, Jacob is also a solid student. He ran a 7.36 60 yard dash which is plus average for his age group. A primary RHP, Jacob has an advanced feel for for his ability on the mound. He pitches bigger/taller than his listed height and throws down the hill with purpose. He shows advanced arm quickness and his operation is clean and repeatable. His 3/4 slot and compact arm stroke add to his deception. His 78-83 mph fastball actually plays a tick better, as his heater shows plus sink and run and can tie up RHH. HIs command, and the life on his fastball improved as his outing progressed. His 71 mph sweeping slider is the better of his two secondary pitches. He throws it from the fastball window and the break is sharp and relatively late. His 66 mph curveball shows looser spin and is more of change-up off his impressive fastball. His curveball is thrown with the purpose of getting hitter's out of rhythm. Jacob's ability to command and control his pitches is sound and projectable. His presence, poise, and plan on the hill, make him a certain prospect for advancement. Jacob also took his turn in the infield. His ability there is probably more suited for third base as his 77 mph arm strength is a plus. He moves well and his quick footwork allow him to position with routine effort. He is fluid with his actions and shows excellent ability moving to his glove side. The accuracy on his throws is consistent. At the plate, shows excellent ability to contact the baseball. His plus build and solid frame are vital in producing noticeable bat quickness. He has strength in his forearms and hands and his flatter bat plane allows him to drive the ball with authority. His barrel stays in the zone for a while. His timing is impeccable. He doesn't show much raw power currently, but his operation is so clean and consistent, that power will eventually come. Jacob is unquestionably ready to take the next step in his career. He gets it. He works hard and keeps his eyes on the prize. His mature approach will certainly help as he climbs the ladder in/with his game.
