Connor Westphal is a 2018 RHP/3B with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Stockton, CA who attends Lincoln High School Stockton Ca. Medium frame with an strong build. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly flashing some downhill tilt with run to arm side in the mid 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/5 shape with good spin and late depth. Generated best depth when staying on top of offering at finish. Worked to each edge of the plate with fastball and showed the present curveball feel to double up when needed. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing clean, sound footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and works through transfer with developing fluidity. Released from a high three-quarters slot producing accurate carry to the bag topping at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance with a large leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Generated good lift and contact and flashed the ability to control the barrel and works to all fields. Good student as well.
