2020 Great Lakes Prospect Showcase
Gino Gazzillo is a 2021 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Steger, IL who attends Mt Carmel. He ran a 7.33 second sixty. A primary catcher with a lean athletic build. Behind the dish he starts with a side saddle stance, gains good ground into his throws and has some good throwing actions with carry down to second base with a 2.12 second pop time. On the mound he starts with aside step and belt high leg lift into medium arm stroke with above average arm speed working to a high three-quarters arm slot. He sat 76-79 mph with his fastball showing some control to both sides of the plate , flashed a curveball in the mid 60's with 12-6 depth and a changeup in the mid 60's as well with some arm side sink around the hitting zone. At the plate, he starts his right-handed swing with an even base and leg lift trigger, showed strength in the hands with torque created in his load, has some pop in the swing with a 86 mph exit velocity.
