Carson Morton is a 2023 3B/RHP with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Albemarle, NC who attends West Stanly. Medium frame with room to fill and time to do so. Ran an 8.51 second 60 yard dash. Primary third baseman, worked out in the infield with mobility to either side laterally, young actions in the infield with a loose arm and developing footwork, releases with intent and projectable arm strength that topped out at 73 mph across the diamond. Secondary righthanded pitcher, sets up on the first base side of the rubber, begins his delivery with a side step up to a high leg lift, takes his arm back to a compact arm action up to a high ¾ arm slot, lands closed with his lower half down the mound, fastball topped out at 76 mph and was located primarily to the armside of the plate, mixed in a curveball that flashed tight spin and late bite. Also worked out in the outfield, fields the baseball out in front and works through it into release, low effort actions with average arm strength from a high 3/4 arm slot, topped out at 76 mph from the outfield. Righthanded hitter, sets up at the plate with an even stance and a high hand set, shifts his weight into contact and creates an uphill swing plane, young bat speed with some feel for the barrel, looks to swing for power and lift to his pull side. Outstanding student.
