Shawn Hunt is a 2021 3B/1B with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from Portland, OR who attends Tualatin. Recorded a 7.39 second sixty-yard dash time. Small, compact frame with present lower half strength. Primary third baseman with deliberate footwork and actions throughout the fielding process. Incorporates lower half well to field out in front and work through the baseball, working into a short arm action and release. Recorded arm strength up to 73 mph across the diamond in drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher with a fairly simple and repeatable delivery. Simple side-step into a medium height leg lift to gather, while working down the slope using drop and drive lower half mechanics. Works from a three-quarters arm slot, challenging hitters with his fastball that worked in the low-70s and flashed occasional cut to it. Flashed two secondary offerings with cutter showing best at present with short horizontal action to it and the ability to miss barrels. Curveball is slower version with loose spin traits and varying shapes to it. Right-handed hitter that hits from an exaggerated open stance with a tight hand set and hover trigger for timing. Incorporates a slightly closed stride and lower half mechanics to get to launch. Middle-of-the field approach with slightly elongated swing path and the propensity to not get fully extended through contact. Developing bat-to-ball skills with best impact to the pull-side of the field. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments. Excellent Student.
